Its not just in the winter

9/27/2022 (Permalink)

Water damages don't just happen in the winter time when theirs rain or snow. Water damages happen year around in many different ways. In the summer time, you may have old pipes that are going through some heavy wear and tear and without a sign or a notice, the pipe breaks and you have a water damage in your home or business. In the winter, its not only the fear of water from outside coming in, but also pipes freezing over in certain areas that can cause a water damage in your home. Slow leaks are also a thing that many homeowners and business owners have to deal with, and those slow leaks usually come with mold. So whatever the case may be, just know that your local SERVPRO of Upland/San Antonio Heights will be there to save the day and make it "Like it never even happened."

Rain in August?!?

9/12/2022 (Permalink)

The Inland Empire for the past couple days in the month of August in 2022 has had a lot of rainfall. Surprisingly enough the inland empire got in a lot of rainfall the past few days and it was definitely much needed due to the water crisis we have here in Southern California. We've been urged to conserve water due to the drought and we were definitely blessed to have this rainfall. The thing is with rain during the end of summer is that nobody is prepared for it. The weather has been over 100 degrees for the past 2 weeks and a rainfall is the last thing we expected. For that reason, many people were not prepared and have now water leaks into their homes or businesses. If you are one of these people or companies, dont hesitate to call SERVPRO of Upland/San Antonio Heights for all your water restoration needs.

Winter is coming

11/9/2021 (Permalink)

Winter is in deed coming. Finally a break from the blistering hot heat here in Southern California. The one thing that comes with the cooler weather, is rain and wind. Wind can cause roof tiles to be blown away, moved around, and can also cause them to break. When that happens, and there is nothing done about it, water has an opportunity to enter your home or business if it starts raining. The rain is beautiful, and reminds us that we need rain and water to survive. We also need to know how to keep our homes and businesses safe during these times. The best way to keep up with your home maintenance, and keep a watchful eye on the weather. If water does enter your home, do something quick about it so that mold does not start growing.

Leaky pipes?

11/4/2021 (Permalink)

If you have a slow leaking pipe, don't look at it as if its not a problem because water isn't gushing into your home. Slow leaks tend to be the worst because we end up leaving them be because we don't see much damage happening. The truth is that slow leaks are worse at times because you don't know how long the leak has been going on for. Thus not knowing if you may have some mold growth inside your walls or ceilings. Mold growth on drywall is a bad thing for drywall or even plaster. It can negatively affect our health without you even knowing. A musty odor can go about your home or business and can spread. So call SERVPRO of Upland/San Antonio Heights today so we can make it "Like it never even happened."

Flooded kitchen

11/4/2021 (Permalink)

I can recall a job where a customer knew they had a slow leak in their kitchen and did nothing about it. I think the kitchen and bedrooms are one of the most important spots in your home to take care of if you have a water intrusion. The reason to that is that you sleep in your bedroom, that area should be clean of contaminants so you get a good nights rest and wake up healthy and ready for the day. The kitchen I find to be one of the most important places in your home to keep an eye on because you cook there, you eat there. You wouldn't want to eat at a restaurant with mold growth in their kitchen, and neither do you in your home. After talking to the customer and informing them on how dangerous it can be, they wizened up and got the leak taken care of and now thank me for informing them on the dangers of not taking care of the issue.

Inhaling mold can be dangerous to our health so we have a way to kill it, remove it, clean it, and makes sure it never comes back.

11/16/2020 (Permalink)

Water damage is something that should be taken care of earlier than later. The reason being is that water travels through walls, baseboards, and the ceiling in your home or business. It can also seep through into your flooring such as wood, carpet, laminate, and tile in the worst scenarios. The quicker your reaction to drying the water the better it is because mold can grow within 24-48 hours. Water needs food such as drywall to seep into and create mold. If you dry the water, you won't have a mold issue, but if you sit on it then the possibilities of growing mold can be high. So call SERVPRO of Upland/San Antonio Heights as soon as you know you have a water issue to get it taken care of.

Water damage in a commercial building

11/16/2020 (Permalink)

Water damage in a commercial building can be really damaging to business. It can slow down production, it can cause people to feel more stressed at work, and also it can be a huge inconvenience. Most commercial buildings with carpet can be dried out without the removal of carpet partly because of the fact that there is no padding underneath the commercial carpeting. The downside to drying in a commercial building while production and work resumes is the inconvenience of the air movers and dehumidifiers being in the way and also causing noise. This does not mean that it is not possible to dry, it just makes it a bit more inconvenient. SERVPRO of Upland/San Antonio Heights have had to deal with this sort of water damage before and we have made it work 100% of the time. So don't panic, SERVPRO of Upland/San Antonio Heights will make it "Like it never even happened."

Carpet affected due to water intrusion

10/7/2019 (Permalink)

Carpet removed due to water damage Water damage at home in Upland, CA.

When water affects carpet in a home, there is most likely padding underneath the carpet that had soaked up moisture from the water damage. In this case you cannot simply dry to carpet and call it a day. When the under laying padding gets affected by water, it must be removed. The reason to this is because the padding is meant to soak up the moisture, and keep it contained within the padding to prevent a further spread of water throughout the home. Thus when wet must be removed and replaced. Carpet can be dried if in good condition and re applied after the drying process is complete. SERVPRO of Upland/San Antonio Heights have the tools and man power to make your damages "Like it never even happened."

How to help prevent a water damage

10/22/2018 (Permalink)

Water damage in laundry room example

Water damage is the No. 1 culprit that weakens your home’s foundation and the very core that holds your house together. You’ve heard about core strength for your body. Well, water damage hits at the core strength of your house, eventually causing serious structural damage. Damp wood invites termites and carpenter ants; plus, it causes mold and mildew. Here’s how to prevent water damage using three easy strategies that will give you peace of mind the next time heavy storms hit.

Ensure good drainage- Why it matters: Poor drainage weakens your foundation, causing cracks, uneven settling, and pathways for water to enter your home.

Test your sump pump regularly- Sump pumps come to life during storms. That’s not when you want to realize yours isn’t working properly. You should check it at least once a year, and ideally perform several checks during heavy storm seasons.

Check for water leaks and call SERVPRO of Upland/San Antonio Heights to fix them.

Persistent leaks lead to mold and mildew rot, and even termite and carpenter ants (they like chewing soggy wood, since it’s soft). Yet if you fix a leak soon after it starts, there may be no long-term damage at all.?

Water Damage to Fabrics

Water Damaged Sofa? Let Us Help You.

SERVPRO Can Salvage Fabrics from Water Damage

Some of the most at-risk objects and materials in a home come in the form of fabrics. Fabric and textiles make up our furniture, our flooring, drapes, our belongings, and sometimes even our walls and appliances, and all of these are highly susceptible to water damage. Thankfully, most types of water damage to fabrics are restorable and treatable in the hands of trained professionals. Depending on the type of fabric and its use, we vary our approach considerably when taking on a job for water damage restoration to fabrics.

Issues in General
Common throughout most types of fabric taking on water damage in California are a few constant problems. For homeowners, the most troubling are often staining and discoloration, which can permanently ruin the appearance of some types of fabric if not treated correctly. Depending on the kind of water damage and fabric, our technicians may be able to remove this staining without replacing anything.

Carpeting
When it absorbs water, carpeting and padding can become heavily warped and misshapen. If not treated quickly, this may lead to a complete replacing of the material. Furthermore, carpeting is often harmed through flooding, which means that the general fabric damages are often most dangerous and prominent here. However, if only a portion of the carpet is too far gone, it can typically be removed and replaced if a successful drying out of the remaining carpet and pad has been accomplished.

Drapes and Window Coverings
Drapes and window treatments can also sustain water damage through flooding, but are also a common casualty after storm damage. If the damage is significant, it can be difficult to fully restore large and heavy drapes, although damage is often light enough to allow for full restoration.

Furniture
Fabric furniture pieces can sustain all of the usual problems, but are also highly susceptible to color bleed. Following a flood or significant water wicking into a piece of furniture, we recommend removing all pillows, sheets, and cushions from the furniture, if possible. This may help to mitigate damage to the non-fabric portions of the furniture.

Clothing
Most articles of clothing can survive light to moderate water damage with a thorough dry cleaning. For heavier damage or flooding, however, it is typically best to replace most items, as they may present a hazard or be too costly to restore.
